Welcome to Dakar Academy West—we’re glad you’re here!

It won’t take long for you to discover what’s different about the Dakar Academy (DA) school system. From our teaching staff to our students, the diversity and character of our community has been an integral part of the Dakar scene since we were established in 1961. Our Hann Maristes campus and West campus welcome students from all walks of life. Currently, there are 34 different countries represented in our student body.

Accredited through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), a student’s records typically transfer to and from a North American or international school. The DA school system uses an American curriculum that is vertically aligned and employs a qualified teaching staff that use differentiated instruction and varied teaching techniques to create an environment of student-centered learning. In Dakar Academy West’s preschool (PreK 3 and PreK 4), kindergarten and elementary programs, courses are taught in English with French or English Language Learning (ELL) classes starting at Grade 1.

We care about the growth of your child—academically, emotionally, physically and spiritually. As a Christian educational institution, our vision is to produce well-rounded students, prepared for university-level studies, whose Christian worldview permeates all aspects of their lives. The heart of our mission as a school is captured in the phrase, So All Can Serve. That “all” includes our students. We provide unique opportunities every year for students to be involved in community service and outreach, right here in our neighborhood and in the city of Dakar.

You won’t find a more dedicated, caring teaching staff anywhere. Our teachers come to DA because they WANT to be here. It’s not uncommon to find staff members playing with students during recess, chatting with students at picnic tables during lunch, or praying with and encouraging students who might be struggling. Because at DA, we’re more than a learning community—we’re a family. And that’s the Dakar Academy Difference.

Respectfully,
Robb Warfield
